This 1986 special limited edition Corvette consisted of 50 units packaged in honor of Malcolm Konner to commemorate his dedication and influence to Chevrolet. For nearly 4 decades Malcolm Konner owned and operated a high-volume Chevrolet dealership. In the 1960s, the dealership touted itself as 'New Jersey's Headquarters for new Corvettes' and by the mid-1970s they were consistently selling more than any other Chevy dealership in the country. The dealership staged huge and extravagant car shows beginning in the 1970s, displaying GM loaned iconic vehicles (like the Mako Shark and Manta Ray), with Corvette luminaries in attendance like Duntov, McLellan and Shinoda.
It is the only time GM (or any other automaker) ever recognized a dealer by producing a vehicle bearing an individual's name.
These special editions were available only at Malcolm Konner Chevrolet.
Because of the low production volume, the model could not receive its own unique paint color. Instead, it was decided that the car would combine two existing Corvette exterior colors - Silver Beige and Black. It also featured special badges, graphite leather upholstery, and a brass plaque on the center console.
