1923 Hupmobile Series R Special Touring

This vehicle is a Hupmobile Series R-11 5 Passenger Special Touring which had an original price of $1250, $100 more than the entry-level Touring. The 'Special' upgrade added nickel-plated brightwork, disc wheels, aluminum scuff plates, an imported 'Burbank' top, and a rear-mounted spare.

The early history of this vehicle is not known. It spent its most recent years on a family tree farm. It was stored inside a maintenance building for over three decades. Every year the spark plugs were removed, and the cylinders were lubricated. The engine was also turned over by hand to ensure it would remain free. The paint, chrome brightwork, upholstery, and top were restored some years ago.

In 2016, it was offered for sale at The Finest auction at The Elegance at Hershey where its proceeds were going to benefit JDRF. It was generously donated by the Bosack family.
