2012 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Brumos Commemorative Edition Navigation
Brumos Racing was founded in 1959 by Hubert Brundage and their first racing entry was a Porsche RS60 for the 1960 Sebring 12 Hours. Bob Holbert, Roy Schechter, and Howard Fowler drove the Brumos entry to a 2nd place finish. Over the course of more than five decades, Brumos and Porsche would enjoy a brilliant partnership, the length of which is unmatched by any other racing team and manufacturer in the United States.
Brumos competed in 2011 in the Grand-AM GT class with a Porsche 997 GT3 Cup. It was a full competition car based on the GT3 RS street model; Porsche stripped the interior and placed a multi-point roll cage inside, along with competition suspension components, racing-specific electronics and engine, sequential gearbox, and significant aerodynamic improvements, among many other details.
Brumos Racing won the Grand-Am Championship in 2011 with the 997 GT3 Cup and team drivers Leh Keen and Andrew Davis. In commemoration of this accomplishment, Brumos made an arrangement with Porsche to offer the last five US-spec 2012 GT3 Cup cars exclusively as Brumos Commemorative Editions. Porsche Motorsports North America meticulously prepared these factory-built racing cars to match the unique specifications used by Brumos for the previous year's assault on the Grand-Am Championship. The engine capacity rose to 4.0-liters, and Porsche installed a Motec data acquisition system with steering and wheel sensors, and a throttle blipping system to help with cleaner downshifts. The five cars were finished in the classic Brumos livery of white with blue and red stripes, along with other details that were mirrored with the 2011 championship-winning car.
This particular example was purchased by Jerry Seinfeld directly from Brumos Porsche. Mr. Seinfeld later drove the car at a private track day at Willows Spring Raceway in California and has approximately 1 to 1.5 hours of running time on it from new.By Daniel Vaughan | Jul 2016
