1925 Pierce-Arrow Model 80 Navigation
One aspect of quality control that Pierce-Arrow was known for was its extensive engine testing. Each engine was run in, disassembled, inspected, reassembled, and tested again. Before the car left the factory for delivery, another inspector personally test-drove it. The body also underwent similar tests and inspections.
The Model 80 was introduced to capture a larger share of the auto market. It was a simpler, less expensive model than the flagship Model 33. It featured an L-head six-cylinder engine instead of a dual-valve version, and it used a Stewart vacuum tank for fuel delivery instead of a pressure system. Prices for the Model 80 ranged from $2,895 to $4,045 compared to between $6,500 and $8,500 for the Model 33's.
This car spent most of its life in Hollywood, California, and was lent out on many occasions for use in films for almost forty years. It has less than 34,000 documented original miles. The engine has never been worked on and the top and boot cover date to 1948. It features Venezia Blue paint and sports the dealer-installed accessory shift knob and wing windows.
