1963 Turner Mark III Roadster

Turner Sports Car Company Limited was established by Jack Turner near Wolverhampton, England. They sold complete cars as well as kits. In late 1963, the company introduced the Turner Sports MK III, which featured a tuned version of the Ford 1,500cc engine as standard equipment. This model remained in production until the company went into liquidation in April 1966, after approximately 100 had been produced. This example is very original. Through the years, each owner maintained it carefully. The engine is the original unit and has never been opened. It has its original seats, dashboard, and instruments.

The engine is a Ford ISOOGT Pre-Cross Flow Cosworth Steel Crankshaft with Lotus Twin Cam head with original Cosworth alloy rocker cover with Twin Weber DCOE 40 carburetors on a Coswoth/Lotus inlet manifold. Equal-length tuned exhaust header with stainless side exit exhaust and silencer.

The gearbox is a semi-close ratio gear set, the same as what is used in the Lotus Elan.

The suspension in the front is a dual wishbone setup with telescopic shocks and coil springs. The rear features TURNER-designed Torsion springs, a Panhard rod, and a radius rod. There are front disc brakes and the optional factory large drum brake setup with Riley 8-inch drums.
