1932 Buick Series 90 Convertible Coupe

Buick was founded in 1899 in Jackson, Michigan. That makes it one of the oldest automobile brands in the world and the oldest in the United States. Founded by David Buick as the Buick Auto-Vim and Power Company, the first cars were produced in 1899 by engineer Walter Marr. Marr quickly left Buick to form his own company before returning several years alter. In the meantime, Buick moved to Flint, Michigan and as they say 'the rest is history.'

The Series 90 line was the top offering from Buick in 1932. These prestigious cars were built on a 134 inch chassis, which was much longer than the standard Buick. The power plant was the 344 cubic-inch overhead valve straight eight.

Buick owners will recall the 'freewheeling automatic clutch.' This system provided no shifting with the clutch between second and third gears as it was activated by a button on the floor. The Series 90 was produced from 1931 until 1942. And while much longer than standard and more powerful, they were also much more luxurious than anything Buick had ever produced. There were many styling changes for 1932, but it was their 11th place finish in the Indy 500 that showed the public they had exceptional performance as well as style and class.
