The Jaguar F-Type is the car some Jaguar enthusiasts have been waiting 40 years to buy: the successor to the legendary Jaguar F-Type. Designed by Ian Callum, the F-Type is a modern rendition of the classic long bonnet shape immortalized by the 1960's E-Type. (Although some have said that the car may resemble the chunkier style of the C-Type.)
This F-Type R is no fat-cat tourer to whoosh down the highway typical of Jaguar chassis tuning of the past. This vehicle is lean and ready for a vicious run through the twisties on your favorite back road.
Three different engine options are available in the new Jaguar model: two different - 3.0-liter V6s and the 5.0 liter V8 that is in the F-Type R. All three F-Type power trains are supercharged with liquid-to-air intercooling allowing very impressive numbers.
For the V6 engines, either 340 horsepower or 380 horsepower versions are available. For the V8, power is 550 horsepower delivering blistering acceleration. The V6's produce 0-60 mile per hour times of 4.9 seconds to 5.3 seconds depending on specification level, and the V8 comes in with a 0-60 mile per hour time of 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 186 miles per hour.
