2006 Ford GT Coupe

Ford Motor Company introduced the GT model of 2005, producing 2,027 units and ended production with the 2006 model with a production run of 2011 units. The Heritage edition GT models in light blue and marigold recall the 1968 and 1969 LeMans victories by the Gulf-Ford GT-40. A limited run of Lightweight versions of the modern V8-powered Ford GT was produced strictly for racing. These cars made their American LeMans Series debut in the 2008 12-Hours of Sebring race.

Additional racing models were the six chassis that went to Doran Racing in Cincinnati to be prepared for International Motor Sports Association GT-2 class racing, with entry in the 24-Hours of Le Mans the goal. This resulted in a 3rd in class finish by the private entry team in the 2008 race. Due to regulations, racing engines were reduced in displacement and power from production to 500 horsepower but were still capable of producing near 200 miles per hour and proving to be very durable.

These cars were built from an all-aluminum chassis with a 6-speed manual transaxle, and following further IMSA regulation changes, were obsolete after just two seasons. This car is the 5th of the 6th Doran built cars, the Ford GT-R, with an all-carbon-fiber body and it is powered by a Roush/Yates built 330 cubic-inch V8 producing about 560 horsepower, capable of 3.1 seconds 0-60 mph times and over 200 mph depending on gearing. Currently raced in SVRA events, this car consistently wins its class, and won the 2015 SVRA National Championship at the Circuit of the America's.
