1988 BMW M3 E30 Sedan

The BMW M3 (E30) has been described as one of the greatest enthusiast vehicles of the 1980s. It regularly tops lists not only of the best BMWs ever made, but of the best driver's cars in general.

The M3 shares very few body panels with its more pedestrian 3-Series siblings. Some of the more obvious visual changes from the standard car are the boxed-out fender flares, the unique front bumper, and the cap over the C-pillar, which helps feed air onto the rear wing. The whole package makes it look like a DTM car.

Its 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine, known as the S14 in BMW parlance, combines the block used in the Brabham-BMW BT52 Formula One car with the head from the M1's inline six with two cylinders lopped off.

This example has been owned by the current owner since August 1989. When he purchased it, it had just 17,150 miles. It was a summer daily driver from August 1989 to August 2011. Nowadays, it has covered over 124,000 miles and is used regularly at various race tracks in the United States and Canada.
