Coupe
By mid-1969, the writing was already on the wall. High insurance premiums and rising gas costs meant that high performance cars were not quite as easy to own as in previous years.

Realizing this, Carroll Shelby and the Ford Motor Company devised a plan. Back in 1966 they created the Shelby GT350-H for the Hertz Rent-A-Car company, which drew an incredible amount of attention to what Shelby and Ford were doing.

Shelby created the Hertz Sports Car Club, building 150 GT-350's in various eye-catching colors to be used in rental fleets throughout the United States. For just $12.00 per day or $60 for a week plus eleven cents per mile, just about anyone over 25 years old could rent a Shelby Mustang.

Just as was done in 1966, many of these cars would see some track time, and often be returned with a bit less treat on the rear tires. It is even rumored that some were returned on Monday with a lower level engine under the hood. This Shelby GT-350 Hertz is one of seventeen built in Grabber Orange and to date, just eight are known to exist. This particular example spent time with four owners after leaving the rental fleet. It recently underwent a full restoration which was recently completed utilizing a variety of new old stock parts. It is equipped with the 351 Ram Air Cobra Jet engine, automatic transmission, air conditioning, Traction-Loc differential and more.
