2001 Ford Focus WRC RS Hatchback

The acronym RS and WRC stands for Rallye Sport and World Rally Car. This Ford Focus was built by M-Sport (UK) who is known worldwide for their race preparation of these cars. They also compete regularly in the World Rally Championship. This car is unique in that Collin McRae was the only person to ever drive it. It was built for the 2001 WRC season where it was raced by Colin with co-driver, Nicky Grist. In the Corsica Rally, Colin failed to navigate a right hand bend at a very high speed, sending the car off into a tree and causing severe damage. He also incurred a broken hand in the process.

While Colin would be able to compete once he recovered, he could not participate in the remainder of the season. With a new Focus WRC variant on the drawing board, this Focus remained at M-Sport in an unrepaired state for several years.

After Colin's devastating passing, it was decided that this car would be resurrected and restored to its full former glory. The extensive restoration was undertaken by M-Sport technicians, and the car was rebuilt to M-Sport's exact standards and original specifications. Colin's popularity, along with the history of this car, ensures its place in rally sport history forever.
