1963 Aston Martin DB5 Navigation
Aston Martin introduced this new DB5 model in 1963 and it became one of the most famous sports cars in the world. The first few production cars were sent to the world's automobile shows.
This Aston martin DB5 is one of 19 left-hand drive examples built from a total of 123 convertibles. The convertible was shown at the New York and Los Angeles Auto Shows, and differs slightly from the production models: inside it has several fittings borrowed from its cousins, the Lagonda Rapide, and under the bonnet the aluminum cam covers are polished instead of painted and the carburetors, intake manifolds and various aluminum fittings are polished and chromed instead of nickel plated. Factory show cars often included polished under bonnet details. Factory options include Borrani wire wheels and a Blaupunkt AM/FM/Marine band radio.
This car was purchased new in September 1963 at the Los Angeles Auto Show by retired U.S. Navy Admiral Robert Miller who kept it until his death in 1993. It was then acquired by an investment company in August 1994 and never licensed. In June 1995 it was acquired with 32,495 miles and kept until 2009 when the owner's widow sold it to a gentleman in Switzerland who then sold it to the current owner in May 2013 with 34,916 miles showing.
