Cabriolet
Coachwork: Allemano
At the Turin Auto Show Carrozzeria Allemano showed this special Fiat Nuova 1100. It featured a Giovanni Michelotti - designed cabriolet with a distinctive 'shark-nose' split grill, which is thought to have been the inspiration for Giorgetto Giugiaro's design for the Ferrari 250 GT SWB Bertone coupe. Many articles were written about the Michelotti-designed Fiat, and after the Turin show, Serafino Allemano showed the cabriolet in the 7th Concorso d'Eleganza at Cortina d'Ampezzo, where the design won first in class. Two Fiat coupes and five cabriolets were built by Allemano during 1953 but only one coupe and two cabriolets are known to exist today.

This example was delivered to its first owner, Augusto Scalese, in September 1954. It was owned by a family in Italy until 2014, when it was found in a state of disarray. The original color combination of Azzurro Metallizzato (blue) over Bordeaux had been changed to ivory over black, the rear fender line had been modified, a restyled bumper fitted, and the original badging had left the car. An extensive restoration was commissioned and the Fiat now looks as it did on the stage in Turin.
