Sold for $104,035 (£73,125) at 2016 Silverstone Auction - Restoration Show Sale.
The Lagonda name was brought back by Aston Martin in 1976 with a high-speed and luxurious grand touring car. The William Towns styling was his typical audaciousness, including linear 'flying wedge' styling that resembled Japanese origami. In the front were hidden headlights, a narrow radiator shell, and a powerful twin-cam V8 engine. At the time of its introduction, the Lagonda had a top speed of 140 mph, making it one of the fastest four-door sedans on the market. The interior was luxurious, with four-passenger seating, all on bucket seats, and all of the latest comfort technology. Its exotic exterior was matched by its interior which featured fully digital instrumentation, including touch-screen dashboard controls.

Full production was achieved in 1978 and it lasted for 14 years, until 1992. During its lifespan, a total of 645 examples were built.

This particular example is an early Series III model, built on New Year's Eve 1985, and was later displayed on the Aston Martin stand at the New York Auto Show in January of 1986. It was then sold to J. Schnepf of Newport Beach, California, who took delivery on 16 February 1987. After having been driven limited mileage, it was sold to a new owner in the Netherlands and eventually made its way back to the United States and into the care of its present owner's collection.

The car is powered by a Dual Overhead Cam V8 displacing 325.9 cubic-inches and offering 263 horsepower. There is a three-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission and four-wheel disc brakes.
