1962 Mercedes-Benz 300d Hardtop Sedan

Over the production lifespan of the 300 sedan which lasted from 1951 through 1962, just over 10,000 examples were produced. The suspension, body, interior, and powertrain, however, were upgraded four times.

This particular 300d Sedan has the improved fuel-injected engine adopted from the 300 SL sports cars. It is one of the 3,077 units of the 300 d that were built. It has the factory-approved Artic-Kar air conditioning system, which was installed by the dealer after purchase. It was owned by the original owner for several months before he passed away, and then acquired by his brother-in-law, who retained it for the next 52 years. It was used sparingly after the mid-1980s, mostly for parades and gala events.

This 300d has less 38,600 miles on the odometer. It has been repainted in the original Black (040) color. It retains its original Becker Mexico radio and working power antenna. Power is from a 2996cc inline six-cylinder engine fitted with Bosch mechanical fuel injection and offering 175 horsepower. There is a three-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drum brakes.
