1933 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental Navigation
This Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental wears a Three-Position Drophead Coupe body built by the coachbuilder Barker. It was ordered by Captain John Wanamaker Jr. of New York and Philadelphia in 1933. The car was in Mr. Wanamaker's care for only a short period of time, as he died unexpectedly on November 30, 1934, at age 45. The car returned to England in 1936 after being sold to Sir Terence J. O'Connor. Patrick D. de Laszlo purchased the car around 1940 and reportedly hid it away for safe keeping during World War I. When the war ended, ownership passed to two additional British individuals before returning to the United States in 1959 and into the care of Herman R. Zinn of Rochelle Park, New Jersey. Since that time, the car has spent time in the care of several individuals in the US, England, and Switzerland. The current caretaker purchased it in 2009 from a Switzerland based owner.
The car is currently finished in a garnet tone over black fenders. The interior is buttery tan hides and Wilton wool carpet.
