1931 Chrysler Series 70 Navigation
From its inception, the hallmark of Chrysler Corporation vehicles was advanced engineering. However, styling rose in importance for the 1931 model line-up. Herb Weissinger, of the 'Art and Color' staff, created renderings inspired by the trend-setting Cord L-29 that led to a captivating new look for Chrysler.
When the 1931 line debuted, Chrysler was immediately recognized as a style leader among the industry giants. The new appearance would help carry Chrysler through The Great Depression. Even today, many still consider the 1931 models to be among the most beautiful Chryslers ever produced.
The Series 70 Chrysler sported Chrysler's technically advanced 268.5 cubic-inch six-cylinder engine, which produced 93 horsepower. Four-wheel hydraulic brakes were a standard feature of the 116.5-inch wheelbase chassis. Interestingly, all Chrysler advertising and brochures for the Series 70 featured woman driving and enjoying the car. The Royal Coupe had a base price of $1,395 and fewer than 1,000 would be produced.
This Series 70 Royal Coupe has been exactly restored by the present owner to its original condition, including the color, Imperial Champagne Tan.
