1957 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider

After enjoying a successful Grand Prix racing career from 1946 to 1951, Alfa Romeo retired from the sport due to a lack of finances to develop a replacement for the 158/195 racers. The Disco Volante Sports car failed to re-establish the company's sporting reputation, so they tasked engineer Dr. Orazio Satta Puliga to create a worthy competitor. Dr. Puliga, who had designed the 1900 - the company's first unitary body design, oversaw the development of the new Giulietta Sprint and, in 1955, the Giulietta Spider. It wore coachwork by Pininfarina and was given modern refinements such as wind-up side windows and a folding soft top.

This particular example is a first-series 1957 Giulietta Spider that has been given a thorough restoration. It is a low-mileage that was delivered new to its original owner in March of 1957 by New York's Hoffman Motor Co. in U.S. specification. It rides on a front double wishbone suspension with a live rear axle setup with coil springs and hydraulic shocks at all four corners. Power is from a 1.3-liter dual overhead cam inline-4 engine that has 8.0:1 compression and a single 2-barrel downdraft carburetor. The engine is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission.

The car is finished in White with a red and black interior. The odometer currently shows just 49,595 kilometers.
