1980 Aston Martin V8 Volante Convertible Coupe

Although Aston Martin intended the DBS to carry its new V8 engine, production difficulties meant that it arrived with the DB6's 4.0-liter six. The DBS was larger and more luxuriously appointed than the DB6, which meant it had slightly reduced performance. Customer complaints were laid to rest when the V8 finally arrived in 1969. The V8 engine in the DBS displaced 5340cc and produced an estimated 315 bhp, giving it a top speed of 160 mph, and making it the fastest production car in the world.

During its production lifespan which lasted from 1969 to 1988, 2,919 examples were built over several variants.

This particular example is a V8 Volante and was shipped from the United Kingdom on May 23rd of 198 and sent to Aston Martin Sales Inc. of New Rochelle, New York. It has left-hand drive steering arrangement, a 5-speed manual transmission, and a Vantage front air dam. It was finished in Jubilee Silver over a black leather interior, black carpeting and a black Everflex convertible top.

It was sold in July of 1981 to its first owner, a California resident, who kept it for six years. With 14,000 miles on its odometer, it was sold in 1987 to its second owner. Currently, the car has just 40,000 miles on the odometer.

The current owner purchased the car from Doc Severinsen, former band leader on The Tonight Show, and before Mr. Severinsen's ownership the car resided in Palm Springs.
