1973 Porsche 911T Targa

The base Porsche 911 model for 1967 was the 911T and most of the changes were internal. The rear track and the wheelbase grew, while the overall length stayed the same as the earlier cars. In 1972, the Porsche 911T, along with the E and S, received a larger 2341cc engine commonly referred to as the 2.4. 1972 also brought the introduction of the 915 transmission, derived from the 908 racecar.

1973 was the final year for the early 911 styling which featured the small bumpers and larger bright work. The 1974 models received more pronounced bumpers.

This particular example is a U.S. market example. It is believed that the car was delivered new to a Mr. McClure of Gastonia, North Carolina. The left the factory optioned with forged alloy wheels, Koni shocks (instead of the traditional Boge), and stabilizer bars in the front and rear. It was also given loudspeaker and noise suppression, comfort equipment and tinted glass all around.

Mr. McClure passed away in the late 1980s and the car was put into dry storage until 1995, when it was discovered and purchased by Mr. Stafford, who oved it to another dry storage but never got to the restoration. It is believed that the current owner is the third owner.

The car left the factory in Metallic Green over a Beige/Tan Leatherette interior. Currently it is in the period correct Tangerine over black with Houndstooth interior.
