1973 Chevrolet Corvette C3 Coupe

Several detail changes to the 1937 Corvette made it more comfortable, better, and quieter than the previous year's model. The most visual changes was to the bumpers. The traditional chrome bumper was replaced with plastic energy-absorbing structures with body color flexible urethane coverings to meet federal 5-mph accident standards. This was the only year that a 'rubber' bumper and chrome rear bumper were in use at the same time. The hood was redesigned to eliminate the windshield wiper covers and provide carburetor air from the high-pressure area at the base of the windshield. Other changes were made to the sound deadening material, new body mounts, side impact door beams, and a fixed rear window.

This particular example is finished in red over a black vinyl interior. Its trim tag describes this as being originally Orange and trimmed with a Dark Saddle interior. It is believed that the car was originally fitted with an L-82 engine; currently, it is powered with a standard 190 horsepower V8, though the manual transmission is correct.
