1925 Studebaker Big Six Model EP Navigation
The 1925 Studebaker line of cars was completely restyled. They featured a shorter yet higher hood with a trim band located at the rear edge. The rear fenders curved outward at both the front and rear edges. In the front were drum-type headlights. Powering the Big Six was a 353.8 cubic-inch L-head six-cylinder engine offering 75 horsepower. They had a 3-speed transmission with two-wheel mechanical brakes. Four-wheel hydraulic brakes were available for an additional cost.
Standard equipment included balloon tires, tube and tire caps, an automatic ignition system, a one-piece windshield, an automatic windshield cleaner, a rear-view mirror, a speedometer, gas gauge, clock, glare-proof visor, and cowl and dome lights. They also had an extension lamp, oil pressure indicator, ammeter, step pads, and running board kick plates.
The Big Six was the company's top-of-the-line model. The Duplex Phaeton body style was introduced in 1925 and combined the protection of a sedan with the openness of a touring car. The Duplex Phaeton featured a solid top with side curtains that pulled down from the roof.
The name 'Phaeton' is a holdover from Studebaker's carriage days. It originally designated a carriage with a nominal body and large, lightly sprung wheels.
