The 200 Cadillac Brougham sedans built in 1960 and 1961 were some of the last examples of the coach-built era. 101 were built in 1960 and this is # 16. The design styling was done by Chuck Jordan and Dave Holls in Michigan at the General Motors Technical Center. For cost-saving reasons, the handmade body was made in Italy by the coachbuilder Pinin Farina. Interestingly, all of the body parts are numbered and fitted to each car. Every body panel, glass, and trim part is unique to the Brougham.
For the rather high price of $13,075, the buyer received all of the normal optional equipment Cadillac offered. In addition, there was a finished-out trunk and two lockable compartments in the rear package shelf area. Powering this 5,450-pound car was a 345 hp, 390 cubic-inch, three-carburetor V-8 engine.
The clean elegant sculpted style of the Brougham set the stage for GM's fresh design for cars for 1961 and beyond. The car was restored by its owner in 2016 and 2017.
