The original owner was Martin Epp who raced the car at Watkins Glen, Lime Rock, Bridgehampton, Thompson and other tracks on the East Coast from 1957 until 1967. Mr Epp sold the car to Van P. Thompson of Massachusetts in 1967 who raced the car for the next three years. Starting in 1970 the car was stored indoors for nineteen years. In 1999 the car was purchased by Dr. Richard Buchanan and was under restoration for the next twelve years. The current owner purchased the car from Dr. Buchanan.
The original engine was damaged while racing and sold by Van Thompson in the early 1960s. The current engine is within five numbers of the original and is a correct 547/1 GT engine. The car retains all of its original sheet metal and all body panels have matching numbers.
The car currently has approximately 18,000 original miles.
