1956 Mercedes-Benz 300C Series Sedan

  • Chassis Number: 186.017.6500835
This restored Mercedes-Benz 300C has been restored, and finished in Strawberry Red (DB 543) paint. The exact number of 300 C sedans originally finished in Strawberry Red is unknown, however it is known that very few received this color.

This 300 C has a full-length sunroof, Becker Mexico radio with automatic antenna, headrests, and special coating. It is believed that this car was ordered new by a member of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. He eventually sold the sedan in the early 1960s to fellow Pittsburgh resident Maurice Petrene, who partially restored the car. Carl Minneci acquired the car in 1969, at which time the odometer reportedly displayed just 43,000 miles. Mr. Minneci completely restored the Mercedes over the following 15 years, and it remained in the Pittsburgh area until 2014.

This car is powered by a 2996cc SOHC inline 6-cylinder engine fitted with Twin Solex carburetors and produces 136 horsepower. There is a three-speed Borg-Warner automatic transmission, four-wheel Vacuum-Assisted Drum Brakes, and an Independent front suspension with coil springs.
