1992 Porsche 911 Carrera Carrera RS

The 964 model was introduced in 1989 and wore a design by Tony Lapine. It was believed to be 87% new, and came with a revised suspension, and rear torsion bars replaced by tubular shocks and coil springs. The suspension was lowered by 40 mm, and the springs and shock absorbers were stiffened. The engine size was increased to a displacement size of 3605cc, and RS motors were blueprinted. The flywheel was lightened for quicker response, and the G50/10 5-speed transaxle featured close ratios, an asymmetrical limited-slip differential, and steel synchromesh. The rear spoiler automatically extended at 50 mph.

The lightweight Porsche 964 Carrera RS was introduced in 1991, and was based on the Carrera Cup competition model. To help reduce weight, air-condition and all power accessories were eliminated. Recaro bucket seats carried four-point harnesses, and rear seats were deleted. They had an aluminum hood, lighter doors, seam welding strengthened the chassis, and the side and rear windows were thinner. 17-inch Cup Design magnesium wheels were placed at all four corners. The result of all this work resulted in the 964 Carrera RS being 345 lbs. lighter. Zero-to-sixty mph was accomplished in under 5.3 seconds, a quarter-mile in 13.4 seconds, and top speed of 162 mph.

This particular Porsche was completed on February 14, 1992, and sold to the German Bilstein suspension company. The car was imported to England in 2008 and reportedly driven only 7,000 km by one owner in five years. In 2013, an engine rebuild and other mechanical refurbishment was completed. The bodywork and wheels were refinished at the same time. Since that time, the car has traveled approximately 1,500 km.

The 3605cc SOHC air-cooled flat 6-cylinder engine is fitted with a Bosch Digital Motor Electronic Management System and produces 271 horsepower. There is a five-speed manual gearbox and four-wheel ventilated drilled disc brakes.
