1976 Triumph TR6 Convertible Coupe

The Triumph Motor Company's line of TR sports car was a ground-breaking vehicle and commercial success, from the TR1 of 1952 through the TR250 of 1968. As the 1960s were coming to a close, the TR5/TR250 design was beginning to look dated, and Triumph needed a new flagship sports car for 1969. Michelotti, the designer of the TR250, was unable to commit to the new project, so Karmann of West Germany was awarded the contract. Much of the lines and design elements were retained; Karmann focused on improving the aerodynamics, most notably with adding a Kamm tail to minimize wind resistance.

This particular TR6 example was sold new to John (Jack) R. Clark of Utica, Michigan, on October 15th of 1976. It was purchased at Falvey Motors of Troy, Michigan. At the time of purchase, Mr. Clark requested that the car be corrosion proofed.

After nearly four decades of ownership, Clark sold the car to Larry Smith, also of Michigan. Mr. Smith treated the car to a cosmetic update, including the installation of a new-old-stock left front fender, and a fresh repaint in the original Inca Yellow.

The car has a new radiator and refinished valve cover and air filter box. The odometer currently shows just 39,752 miles.
