1961 Chevrolet Corvette C1 Convertible

The 1961 Chevy Corvette was given a handful of important changes, with the most noticeable being the cars' refreshed rear-end styling. It became more angular than the prior years, with four taillights, and it was a design that would carry through to the second generation in 1963. The exhaust was relocated under the bumper rather than being integrated within it. The transmission tunnel was narrowed by 20 percent to provide addition interior room.

1961 was the final year for the Corvette's 283-cubic-inch V8 engine, and it was the last year for two-tone color combinations.

This particular example is in the care of Stephanie Smith. It is finished in Roman Red with white 'covers,' a red interior, and a white soft top. Power is from a 283 cubic-inch V8 with dual Carter four-barrel carburetors offering 270 horsepower. There is a 4-speed transmission, a driver's side mirror, Wonderbar radio with a rear antenna, original 'spinner' wheel covers, and seatbelts. The tires are Coker Classic whitewalls, of the same width as original. Currently, the odometer shows 47,015 miles.
