1953 Effyh 500 Navigation
The Formula 500 class allowed engine displacement sizes up to 500cc. A successful Swedish driver named Ake Jonsson, from Alov, raced a 1947 special built by the brothers Folke and Yngve Hakansson in Malmo and was named Effyh. The 'Eff' represented 'Folke and the 'y' was for Yngve while the 'h' was for Hakansson.
Jonsson and the Effyh were a competitive and successful duo, causing other drivers to become interested in their own Effyh. Jonsson was the Formula 3 champion in 1950, 1951, and 1952 with his Effyh.
Roughly 55 to 60 examples of the Effyh were built, with the last examples built around 1955.By Daniel Vaughan | Jun 2017
