The Jaguar MK II appeared in 1959. It was a four-door touring car that had a unique center bar in its radiator grille, unique side lamps, turn signals, and flush-mounted fog lights. It had a wide rear track, large windows, and power-assisted disc brakes. Inside, the roomy passenger compartment included large front bucket seats, folding picnic tables for rear-seat occupants, a well-designed dashboard with the tachometer and speedometer placed directly in front of the driver with ancillary gauges in a center panel.
Between 1959 and 1967, Jaguar built 28,666 examples of the MK II.
This example is finished in Opalescent Dark Blue over Crème Connolly leather with dark blue piping, deep Wilton wool carpets and rich burl walnut trim. It is a United States market car that was discovered by its current caretaker in boxes. A concours restoration began in 1994 using only original or new-old-stock pieces.
After the restoration, the car was shown extensively around the Northeast, taking Best in Class trophies at just about every event into which it was entered.
Since the restoration was completed, it has been driven fewer than 100 miles.By Daniel Vaughan | Jun 2017
