2005 Porsche 911 Convertible

In 2000, Porsche introduced the Turbo version of the new Type 996, which had been the first new 911 that was completely redesigned. Just the suspension and six-speed gearbox were retained from the predecessor, though revised. Available as a coupe or cabriolet, the model received minor upgrades as the years continued. As the production lifecycle was coming to a close, Porsche offered the Turbo S, which was similar to the Turbo, but instead was given the X50 performance option. Horsepower was rated at 450 BHP, and Porsche's carbon-ceramic disc brakes became standard, along with a CD changer and aluminum-faced instruments. Torque rose to 457 foot pounds, thanks to larger turbochargers an improved intercoolers. Top speed was achieved at 190 mph.

The Turbo S could be purchased as either a coupe or cabriolet, and around 980 examples were produced. Just 300 of those were convertibles.

This particular Turbo S Cabriolet is finished in black over a black leather interior. Originally delivered new to Hohen Porsche of Carlsbad, California, it was exported to Switzerland in 2008, where it has remained with its current owner for nearly a decade.
