1937 DeSoto Series S-3 Navigation
This DeSoto exemplifies the finest of Art Deco styling. The attention to detail in the design elements clearly speaks of 'simple elegance.'
The 116-inch wheelbase and 228 cubic-inch L-head 6-cylinder, and its convertible top put it at Desoto's top-of-the-line in 1937; producing just 992 of these gorgeous motorcars at a price of $955 ($237 more than a Ford Deluxe Cabriolet.)
The authenticity of the restoration includes numerous factory original options such as the rare 'hidden' antenna under the running boards and in-dash radio, factory overdrive allowing today's highway speeds, and banjo steering wheel. In addition, it sports accessory fender skirts and dual air-tone horns.
The Spring Green leather was the factory color of the leather, custom dyed to duplicate the original.
Designed by Ray Dietrich, who patented the continuation of the radiator grill horizontal bars flowing into the side of the hood, making this DeSoto certainly a 'stand out' piece of not only automotive history but a perfect example of rolling art.
