This Cobra was originally delivered to Warren Wooten Ford of Cocoa, Florida, finished in Princess Blue over black leather interior. Its original owner was Robert Lindauer Sr. who acquired it on July 24th of 1964. He traded in a 1963 Corvette convertible for the Cobra. The car remained with Lindauer for a few months and during that time it was driven over four thousand miles.
In July of 1965, it was advertised for sale in Car & Driver and once more in 1969. He later decided not to part with the car, and it would remain in Cocoa Beach, Florida. Lindauer occasionally drove the car in gymkhana events in Florida.
In July of 1970, the car was involved in a road accident where it sustained some cosmetic damage and was repaired with parts sourced from Shelby directly.
The Cobra was placed into storage in 1974, resting on jack stands in a climate-controlled garage. After Mr. Lindauer's passing in March of 2001, the Cobra was trailered from Florida to North Carolina, where his son resides. When the car arrived, it was put onto jack stands in a climate-controlled storage unit.
In 2010, the car was brought to Charlotte, where it was entrusted to Lee Holman of Holman-Moody fame, who brought the car back to running condition.
This car retains its original engine, transmission, carpeting, convertible top, tonneau cover, top irons, seat belts, owner's manual, jack, grease gun, original spare tire, original intake manifold, carburetor, water pump, fuel pump, fan belt, original keys, and upholstery.
