Sport Roadster
Chassis #: 103365
Sold for $1,078,000 at 2009 Pebble Beach Auction : Gooding & Company.
This 1934 Mercedes-Benz 380K Sport Roadster is one of only seven built. There were only seven roadsters built between 1933 and 1934 with this stunning example being one of the last produced. Launched in 1933, the sporty Mercedes-Benz 380K was intended to bridge the gap between the six-cylinder engine 290 model and the massive 770 'Grosser' model. It was the first car of its type with fully independent suspension; wishbones at the front and swing axles at the rear. The eight cylinder engine was directly derived from the 290's and with the familiar engageable supercharger.
