1998 Chevrolet Corvette C5 Coupe

1998 was the second year for the C5 or fifth generation Corvette. The C5 was an 'all-new' model in 1997, featuring an all-aluminum LS1 small block V-8 driving a rear transaxle - a first for Corvette. Virtually all interior, exterior, and suspension components were redesigned for this vehicle.

In 1998 the Corvette was voted both the Motor Trend Car of the Year and the North American Car of the Year at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Few other changes were made to the 1998 model, however it did mark the fourth time Corvette paced the Indy 500. A special 'Pace Car Replica' convertible was offered. This unique model consisted of special graphics, yellow wheels, black and yellow leather interior and 'pace car purple' exterior paint.

This particular example wears a one-year-only color of Medium Purple Pearl Metallic (used only on Corvettes - on other GM models it was known as Majestic Amethyst). Total production of this color was 381 vehicles - 229 coupes and 152 convertibles. This car is:
