1955 Buick Super Series 50 Convertible

The Buick Super is a full-size automobile that was produced from the 1940 through the 1958 model years. Starting in 1954, Buick used the new larger C-body, with vertical windshield pillars and the new Panoramic windshield. The Super was identified by its three signature VentiPorts per fender, along with the Super script on the quarter panels. The Super shares other brightwork with the upscale Roadmaster.

Interiors in hardtop models are nylon and are a bit subdued than in the Roadmaster models. The Super, however, did use the more expensive car's horizontal speedometer instrument panel. The convertible model as seen here is upholstered in leather and includes standard power-operated windows, seat and top, along with an outside rearview mirror on the left. Additional features include a lighted ignition key slot and a roof rail cover.

In 1955 Buick's popular Super continued to combine the large C-body with the mid-line model interiors. Supers had four of the new round VentiPorts per fender this year, with additional series script found on rear quarters and within the deck emblem.

The larger bodied Buicks for 1955 were readily identified by their more rounded contours, straight up windshield pillars and sedan rear quarter windows. Inside, a new Red Liner speedometer lay horizontally across the instrument panel. Additional Super standard equipment includes a trip mileage indicator, an electric clock and a power horizontal seat adjuster.
