Roadster
The Whippet model line was produced between 1926 and 1931 by the Willys-Overland Company of Toledo, Ohio. The Whippet successfully competed as a small, well-built, low priced car powered by a four-cylinder or six-cylinder engine. The Whippet helped catapult Willys-Overland to the third largest producer of automobiles in 1928 behind Ford and Chevrolet. The Whippet was redesigned in 1929 by Amos Northup who joined Willys-Overland in March of 1928. Northrup's new design featured a longer wheelbase, more graceful body lines and overall artistic touch that was not typical in low priced production cars. The 1929 model also featured novel 'finger-tip control' which combined the controls for the starter, lights and horn in a central knob on the steering wheel - a feature meant to appeal to women drivers. Although more than 500,000 Whippets were eventually produced very few survive.

This 1929 Whippet Roadster was donated to the AACA Museum in 2015.
