In 1924 Isotta Fraschini introduced the revised Tipo 8A, featuring what was then the most powerful straight-8 in production - a 7.3-liter engine producing around 120 horsepower. The new model was aimed directly at the lucrative American market - and indeed, at the end of 1928, this Tipo 8A Castagna was exported to the United States and displayed at the renowned Hotel Commodore Salon in New York. The body style, akin to a roadster but with roll-down side windows, became known as 'The Commodore' and was so popular that Isotta Fraschini took orders for ten more examples that were built by Castagna and delivered to American buyers.
