Introduced at the 1965 Turin Motor Show, the Lamborghini Miura's chassis created a sensation. Bertone was tasked with creating the body for that chassis, and a finished prototype was shown four months later at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show. Just over 700 Miuras were built, and they established the young Lamborghini company as one of the top sports car manufacturers in the world. At the end of 1968 the Miura was replaced by the Miura S, with about 20 more horsepower.
This Miura S has matching numbers, original paint and an unmarked interior. In August of 1969 the car was delivered to its first owner, Carlo Carita of Naples. Then, in 1973, it went to its second owner, in Pennsylvania, where the car remained for 41 years. In 2014, it changed hands again and received a complete engine and transaxle overhaul. The current owner acquired the car in 2015.
