1951 Bugatti Type 101 Navigation
In 1951, a few years after the death of his father Ettore Bugatti in 1947, Roland Bugatti made an attempt to re-launch the marque using an improved Type 57 chassis as the basis for his new Type 101. Sadly, Bugatti's project stalled and only a handful of these rare Type 101s were completed between 1951 and 1956.
This car, the second of the series of seven to be finished, was sent to Gangloff to be fitted with this four-passenger cabriolet body. The cabriolet was one of two Type 101s displayed at the 1950 Paris Auto Salon. The car was first sold to a Mr. P. Rentz in the Alsace region of France, and a succession of nine different French owners followed, including Bugatti collector Gene Cesari. It joined the Mullin Museum in 2010.
