R. Philip Gormully and Thomas B. Jeffery started building bicycles under the Rambler brand name, then moved into automobile manufacturing in 1897 with a single-cylinder gasoline-engined car.
This Rambler Model H is built on an 81-inch wheelbase with a 7-horsepower, 1.9-liter single-cylinder engine with a two-speed planetary transmission. Ramblers used a patented automatic spark adjuster and a brass ring throttle mounted under the steering wheel. Strangely, the original owner bought this car in 1904 and stored it unused in his barn in Iowa for 49 years without ever driving it on the road. It has its original upholstery and top - and even the brass lamps are as new. The current owner acquired the car from the Louis Biondi Collection in 2010, and after minor attention to the transmission and fitting new tires and tubes, the car was taken on the road for the first time.
