    1991 Maserati Barchetta Navigation
The Maserati Barchetta was designed by Carlo Gaino of the Italian design house 'Synthesis Design' and was produced from 1991 through 1992. The two-seat sports car with mid-engine layout was powered by a 1996cc V6 AM501 Maserati bi-turbo engine with electronic fuel injection and twin-water-cooled IHI turbochargers. Power was sent to the rear wheels via a ZF 6-speed transaxle.

The DeTomaso factory in Modena produced thirteen examples. Total additional prototypes were produced, one racing-corsa and a street-stradale.

The Barchetta was created for a single-make Grantrofeo Barchetta championship racing series which was held on Italian tracks during 1992 and 1993. Two races were held on foreign circuits during the 1993 season.
