Sold for $100,800 at 2019 RM Sothebys : Amelia Island.
The Lamborghini Jarama made its public debut at the March 1970 Geneva Motor Show and served as a successor to the Islero. The Jarama was named in honor of a Spanish district renowned for its fighting bulls. It was designed by Marcello Gandini for Bertone and given a roomy four-passenger cabin with thin-pillar architecture and a plethora of glass area. In the front were partially covered, 'pop up' headlamps and slender chrome bumpers. The body panels were pressed by Bertone at its Grugliasco factory, with final assembly performed at Carrozzeria Marazzi.

The engineering of the new Jarama 400 GT was performed by Paolo Stanzani, the former assistant of Giampaolo Dallara who had left Sant'Agata. The underpinnings of the Jarama were based on a version of the Espada's sheet-steel platform chassis, which Bertone was still building for Lamborghini at the time. The chassis of the Jarama was shortened by 10.6 inches, with the Espada's engine and running gear left essentially unchanged.

The European versions of the Jarama could race from zero-to-sixty mph in just 6.8 seconds and the quarter-mile dash was achieved in 14.9 seconds at about 95 mph. U.S. models had similar figures, with 0-60mph taking 7.2 seconds with the quarter-mile in 15.6 seconds.

The interior of the Jarama offered 2+2 seating and was luxuriously trimmed in top materials.

In total, just 327 examples were built, including 177 first generation 400 GT models and only 150 of the 400 GTS.

This particular example is the 115th example produced. It was delivered on March 23rd of 1972 to Modena Sports Car in New York. By 2002, it was located in Los Angeles, California, where it was listed for sale with 45,671 miles. It has been given a recent repaint and refurbishment. The interior is original.

The engine is a 3,929cc dual overhead came V-12 engine fitted with six Weber twin-choke carburetors. The 7,000-RPM rev limit engine offers 350 horsepower and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
