1963 Pontiac Tempest Custom Convertible

As the 1950s were coming to a close, Pontiac had built a reputation as one of General Motors' most innovative divisions. Since 1956, engineer John De Lorean and his team had been designing and building a car that would feature an all-independent suspension using swing axles at the rear. This resulted in the development of a rear transaxle and patented low-profile flexible driveshaft. This mechanical innovative drive train would first appear in 1961 on the all-new Tempest. Power was supplied from a 194.5 cubic-inch slant-four engine.

This 1963 Pontiac Tempest convertible is a one owner car that was purchased new in Shippensburg, PA at Barn's Pontiac. Power is from a 195 cubic-inch four-cylinder engine mated to a floor shift 3-speed manual transmission. There are 86,269 original miles and it covered most of the mileage prior to 1969 at which point it was stored in a garage. It has been given a recent repaint, new top, carpet and upholstery.
