1953 Chevrolet Model 3100 Truck

Prior to proceeding with any development of their passenger vehicles following the close of World War II, Chevrolet planned and executed a major redesign for the pickup line. The redesign was intended to provide more space and comfort for the operator, while also increasing the ability of the truck. The lineup was marketed as bigger, stronger and sleeker in comparison to the previous AK series of trucks. New features included bigger windows to provide a better field of vision, a more functional dashboard with a radio and redesigned steering geometry for less effort. The Advance Design series began production in 1947, and it ran until 1955, all the while being the best-selling pickup in the U.S. over the same period of time before its eventual replacement by the new Task-Force lineup.

This particular example has been given a comprehensive frame-off restoration It has custom-painted bed rails, a chromed grille, chromed bumpers and wide whitewall tires with wheel caps. The interior features a bench seat, roll-down windows and newly positioned pedals. The original optional radio is mounted in the dashboard, along with a heater and defroster. A 235 CI 6-cylinder engine is mated to a 3-speed manual transmission with a column-mounted shifter.

This 1953 Chevrolet 3100 5-window pickup is the half-ton version of the Advance Design series of Chevrolet trucks, and it has been finished with some custom artwork done by Dennis Jones.
