The Ferrari Testarossa supercar was given its name from the Italian company's past when it arrived in 1984. It retained its predecessor's (the Berlinetta Boxer) amidship-mounted, 5.0-liter, flat-12 engine and was now capable of achieving a top speed of 180 mph. On the side were memorable grill slats that feed air to its side-mounted radiators. Its new design managed to combine high downforce with a low coefficient of drag with the absence of extraneous spoilers and other such devices.
This particular Monospecchio (single mirror) model, was sold new in the United States in 1986 by Algar Ferrari. It remained in its first ownership for twenty-six years until being acquired by its second owner in 2011. The new owner commissioned a comprehensive service by Algar, who resealed the engine and transmission, as well as carrying out the Ferrari Classiche Certification.
