1934 Packard 1107 Twelve Phaeton

The Packard Twelve was produced from 1933 to 1939 with over 35,000 examples sold. It is believed that Packard produced around ten 5-passenger Phaetons on the Eleventh Series V12 chassis, and this car was the second to be built. It was sold new to the prominent Chicago banker, financier, sportsman, and philanthropist Albert Harris. The Packard's next owner, Edward Eagle Brown, was president of the First National Bank of Chicago. He used it as his summer car before he sold it in the early 1950s to NBC weatherman Clint Youle. It was sold again in 1973 with just 16,000 miles on the clock, and then in 1990, the car was restored to its original condition by Fran Roxas. Following its restoration, this car was named First in Class at Pebble Beach in 1991 and was also a Classic Car Club of American Senior Premier winner.

Approximately ten examples of the five-passenger phaetons were built on the Eleventh Series Twelve chassis. This particular example was the second one built. It was sold new by Packard of Chicago on February 28th of 1934. Its first owner was Albert Harris, followed by Edward Eagle Brown. Mr. Brown used it as his 'summer' automobile while his 'winter' car was the Duesenberg Model SJ town car built for Ethel Mars.

Mr. Brown sold the Packard in the early 1950s to Clint Youle, next passing in 1973 to Bill Budding. Mr. Budding had Fran Roxas treat the car to a restoration in its original color scheme and options. Following the restoration, the car was a Classic Car Club of America Senior Premier winner, no. 1673, as well as Best in Class at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, among other honors. It was eventually sold by Mr. Buddig's estate in 1999 to the late Bill Jacobs, from whom it was purchased by the current owner.

The car retains its original frame and engine. Accessories include the covered dual side-mounted spares, a correct Packard luggage rack and trunk, and the factory's standard 'feathered bail' radiator cap.
