The Porsche Type 993 Turbo S, introduced in 1997 and built for just two years, offered more performance and exclusivity over the standard 911 Turbo. 0-100 mph took 8.9 seconds which was half-a-second faster than that of the standard Turbo.
The Turbo S came powered by a flat six-cylinder engine fitted with a pair of K-24 turbochargers and offered 430 horsepower in U.S. specification. The engine was mated to a six-speed manual transaxle which sent power to the all-wheel-drive system that was developed for the earlier Type 964 Carrera 4. The Bosch Motronic engine-management system is upgraded to produce more power and an additional oil cooler was added to handle the increased heat load. 12.68-inch power-assisted ventilated and cross-drilled multi-piston disc brakes with yellow calipers provided the stopping power.
This example has a full black leather interior with carbon fiber trim on the lower portion of the dashboard, around the gauges, along the doorsills, and on the center console, door panels, and door pulls. There are black floor mats, carbon leather steering wheel, racing style seats, infra-red security system, and a digital sound package with a six-disc CD changer.
This car has had five owners from new. It was originally delivered to Bert Smith International in St. Petersburg, Florida. In 2001, it moved to an owner in the Chicago area. In 2004 it completed its 6,000-mile service. The third owner performed another large maintenance in 2007, before the car passed to Colorado. Most recently, the Turbo S has resided in California.By Daniel Vaughan | Nov 2017
