1950 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Navigation
Alfa Romeo introduced the 6C 2500 in 1938. These were the final Alfa Romeo models to be powered by a Vittorio Jano-designed engine. The top-of-the-range 6C 2500 was the Super Sport model, or SS, which had a 12-inch shorter wheelbase, a higher compression ratio, and three Weber carburetors.
This particular 6C 2500 Super Sport Cabriolet was delivered new in August of 1950 to the Swiss Alfa Romeo agent in Lugano, Switzerland. It is believed to be the only example delivered in this color combination of black over a green interior.
Michel Pfau of Paris purchased the car in 1957 out of a garage in Geneva, Switzerland. He is believed to be the second owner.
The car remained with Mr. Pfau until 2013, when it was acquired by Franco Meiners of Bergamo, Italy. Mr. Pfau had the 6C 2500 restored in Italy from about 2006 to 2012, with the paint done in Novara and the mechanicals in Torino.
While the car was in Mr. Meiners care, additional sorting was performed and it was displayed at several concours events.
