1962 Ferrari 250 GT Series II Navigation
This unrestored Ferrari has spent many years in static storage. It was among the very last Series II Cabriolets built (the 198th of 200 examples) and its chassis arrived at Pininfarina's workshop in Torino in May 1962. It was completed in late October and finished in Grigio Notte (Night Gray) paint and trimmed with an interior of black leather and vinyl.
The car was delivered to U.S. distributor Luigi Chinetti Motors in New York and then sold to its first private (unknown) owner. By late 1969 the car was owned by Turner J. Woodard of Indiana, and it was subsequently sold to William Peters of Florida in 1977. In April of 1978, the car was acquired by Manfred Lampe of Dearborn, Michigan. In 1981 it was sold to Ernest Beutler who retained it for four years.
In 1985, the Series II Cabriolet was sold to Roger Shimmell of Detroit. He began preparing the car for a full restoration. It was disassembled and the parts were catalogued. Many rare NOS parts were sourced. As the years progressed, substantial work to the undercarriage commenced. Eventually, though, the project stalled, and Mr. Shimmell opted to sell the car.By Daniel Vaughan | Dec 2017
